What is the difference between an ESA letter and a PSD letter?
The $99 ESA letter supports a housing accommodation under the Fair Housing Act. The $139 PSD letter documents your need for a psychiatric service dog, which also has public-access and air-travel rights once the dog is task-trained. Both protect you in housing.

How long does an ESA letter take, and which states take 30 days?
In 45 states and Washington, DC your letter is typically issued within 24 to 48 hours of your evaluation. Arkansas, California, Iowa, Louisiana and Montana require a 30-day client–provider relationship, so the letter issues after day 30. The price is the same.
Do ESA letters expire, and what does renewal cost?
Federal law sets no expiry date, but most landlords expect a letter dated within the last 12 months. Renewal is $79, and nothing renews automatically.
What happens if I'm not approved?
